Nico Gaupp
Nico is an artist and designer with a background in interaction design and user experience design. After spending time working in the design industry, he gradually became tired of repetitive, market-oriented ways of working and started moving toward a more focused yet open creative practice. For him, making work is not about delivering a single clear message, but about opening up moments of feelings and conversation.
His work explores interactions between nature, living beings, machines, even fictional elements, and their surrounding environments. He is especially drawn to the subtle details in everyday life. Through sketches, notes, and fragments collected from daily experiences, his works slowly grow into form through an organic process shaped by both topic and experimentation. Although the process remains open, he spends a great deal of time thinking through decisions in the early stages, carefully considering the role and language of each element within a work. This allows the work to evolve organically while still maintaining a clear and rational structure.
Alongside conceptual thinking, he is also interested in the physical presence of materials and the experience of making things by hand. Through installations and physical objects, he hopes to create works that feel approachable and easy to engage with, allowing viewers to build their own sensory and emotional connections through observation and interaction.
